Education · Oyo State

Education Reporting Project

In partnership with Education as a Vaccine (EVA) and with support from the Malala Fund, we implemented the Education Reporting Project in Oyo State to strengthen accountability and public engagement around girls’ education.

The project examined the critical factors that influence girls’ enrollment, retention, and completion of secondary education, including education financing, citizen participation, governance, and gender-responsive policies. Through rigorous, evidence-based journalism, it uncovered systemic challenges while showcasing opportunities for improving access to quality education for girls across the state.

Urban Development · Lagos

Reporting Urban Challenges Project

Implemented in partnership with the Pro-Poor Development Media (PDM) Network and with funding from the African Cities Research Consortium (ACRC), this project deepens public understanding of the complex urban issues shaping the lives of Lagos residents.

It supports investigative and solutions-focused journalism on Lagos’ most pressing challenges: water, sanitation and hygiene, climate resilience, forced evictions, and housing deficits. A distinctive feature is the integration of ACRC’s research and data into journalistic storytelling, combining rigorous evidence with human-centred narratives that provide context, accountability, and pathways for informed action.

Local Governance Reporting Project

In partnership with the Centre for Journalism Innovation and Development (CJID) through its Local Media Sustainability Fund (LMSF), with support from the Royal Norwegian Embassy, we are implementing the Local Governance Reporting Project in Osun State to strengthen accountability journalism and public engagement around local governance.

The project equips journalists to investigate governance beyond political events, with emphasis on public service delivery, infrastructure, education, healthcare, community development, and public spending. Through practical training, editorial support and commissioned reporting, it helps journalists produce rigorous, evidence-based and human-centred stories that give citizens better information about how public institutions and resources affect their lives.
